As part of a project to commission a robotic-optical unit for the quality control of sealing components of combustion engines, a comprehensive system for image capture, classification of image inputs and control of the robotic unit was designed and implemented in cooperation with Piston Rings Komarov s.r.o. The solution included the design of a suitable lighting system, the selection of optical sensors ensuring high quality of the captured image and the implementation of software for controlling the robotic unit. The key part of the whole system is the USPIN Hightech Object Recognition technology, which enables accurate and reliable detection and recognition of material defects.
The robotic-optical unit enabled measurements with an accuracy of 0.005 millimetres.
